New Puppy or Shelter Dog Support ($150 at Santa Fe office/$250 in your home)
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of raising a high volume of puppies from many different breeds and backgrounds. I also take in several shelter dogs each year—often those with behavioral challenges or feral tendencies—and work with them until they’re ready for adoption.
Whether you’re considering adopting a rescue dog or purchasing a purebred puppy, I can offer honest, experience-based guidance to help you choose the best fit for your lifestyle. Once you’ve brought your new dog home, I’ll support you in ‘seeing’ and understanding your new dog. I am here to support you from the very beginning; to help you understand if your dog is an introvert or extrovert, has special (and subtle) socializing needs that you need to be aware of and support and what type of training to implement right away. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan for your first three months, setting you and your dog up for long-term success.

Immersive Training & Socialization
The goal: dogs who can co-exist comfortably in public, enjoy calmer leash walks near other dogs, or welcome a new dog into the home. This is not a dog-park readiness program and is intended for dogs with mild leash reactivity only.
- Dogs learn through daily pack hikes, calm co-existing with dogs in the home and office, and on-leash outings to dog-friendly coffee shops and stores in Santa Fe.
- After dogs graduate from this program, they can do ‘social maintenance’ boarding with Kelly when owners are traveling at the rate $100/night. In addition, Kelly offers controlled social playgroups at her office at no cost.
- This program requires a dog-dog evaluation at Kelly’s office prior to booking. Dogs must be crate trained to enroll in any immersion program.
- 14 days/ $150 per day. Includes lifetime socialization support and social gatherings at Kelly’s office.
2-Week Off-leash Control Board & Train ($2520)
This full immersion program is intended for dogs over 6 months of age who are socially neutral with dogs, humans and wildlife. Kelly will introduce the remote training collar to your dog while making nuanced adjustments to her method based on your dog’s individual learning needs. This program also includes obedience training as needed to support off-leash training.
- Dogs will be working off-leash in group hikes and solo outings to public trails.
- Kelly will educate owners on the use of Tractive GPS devices and the OnX app to find new places to explore off-leash safely.
- This program requires an in-home evaluation prior to booking. Dogs must be crate trained to enroll in any immersion program.
- 14 days/ $180 per day. Includes Dogtra Remote Training collar, custom leash and lifetime off-leash support.
2-5 week Behavior Modification Board and Train ($200/day)
This extended program is to methodically improve behavior imbalances utilizing a holistic approach. Dogs that would qualify for this program can display issues with leash and barrier reactivity, mild dog or human aggression, breed-specific genetics and displaced behaviors, chasing bicycles/cars or wildlife, unable to settle with a baseline of anxiety and other nuanced behaviors. This program relies heavily on owner being able to modify home, lifestyle, personal emotions and structure to be successful long term.
- Kelly will discuss and evaluate appropriate tools for each dog, develop a 24-hour structured lifestyle for success, determine limitations and management protocols and heavily coach owners on how to handle and support their dogs post-training.
- Behavior Mod dogs will be living in a pack, participating in daily hikes, going to new and novel public locations and slowly taking on new challenges as they build confidence and handler trust.
- This program requires an in-home evaluation of dog, owner(s) and lifestyle. Dogs must be crate trained to enroll in any immersion program.
- 2 to 5 weeks of training/ $200 per day. Includes Dogtra Remote Training Collar, custom leash and lifetime lesson and support.
“Kelly Engel, WOW! She is equipped to handle any dog-problem scenario through experience, and I do mean any. Get her talking and you will not believe the depth of dog handling experience this young woman has, and it shows. She is comfortable, at ease, and realistic about expectations for her clients, both 2 and 4 legged.
If it were not for Kelly we might have given up one of two adorable pups. In a moment of weakness I took home two instead of one. Despite endless warnings against keeping litter-mates, Kelly showed me that it was possible. Her philosophy in getting pups socialized as early as possible through her puppy classes was a life saver. Each problem we have had since then is dealt with simply through her wealth of knowledge. She doesn’t tell you it’s going to work she just gives you all of your options. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this woman and her handling capabilities. We are very lucky to have her in Bozeman.
Not only is she an amazing trainer but also an amazing human being. She forms deep bonds with humans and dogs alike; her business is based off of this. I am so thankful to have Kelly just up the road from me, but I would drive an hour for her services, and have done so in the past. She’s awesome!”

Every dog carries within them a living story —
an ancestral lineage woven from survival, purpose, and traits shaped by time. Each one is a testament to generations past, arriving in our modern world as a quiet echo of something ancient and essential. For every human privileged to walk alongside a dog, therein lies a sacred opportunity: to uncover that story and to honor their brief but profound presence in our lives.
